Apprentice Catholic Worker Farmer
Fiacre Gardens Microfarm is a small, multi-campus organic farm in the Rochester NY area, and a small Catholic Worker agronomic university inspired by the teachings of Peter Maurin. We are associated with 2 Catholic Worker communities -- the St. Joseph’s House of Hospitality, and Bethany House, both in Rochester. The Catholic Worker Farmer apprenticeship at Fiacre Gardens in 2009 or 2010 is modeled on the apprenticeships often held at small organic farms, in which mentoring, room and board are offered in exchange for labor for one growing season or more, from April to October (or November). The Apprenticeship includes volunteering elsewhere 1 day/week to give a broader hands-on perspective on the Works of Mercy.
